GROOVE MAG INTERVIEW – NICK RAYM

How would you describe your music ?

Music of protest, rebellion. It usually has double meanings, as one meaning comes from the heart and the other one from the brain. The heart one is the meaning on the girl I love, which will be the subject of my songs for a very long time, at least I hope. Because if I stop making music about her it means I failed in getting her…

What is your new single about and where did the inspiration come from ?

‘Gone In a Vibe’, surprisingly, does have a double meaning! Woo! First of all what is ’Gone In a Vibe’ is the remembrance by some people of terrible acts such the Holocaust, but also it refers to the person I love. Given the rest of the answer maybe I shouldn’t have started with a ‘Woo’…

What made you to start a career in music  ?

Way of protest and communication. People should never contain their feelings as keeping emotions will make you crazy, seriously GET THEM OUT! My lawyer tells me to tell you that I’m not held responsible for any incident the ‘bring out your emotions’ process can bring to you! Have a good life!

Can you recommend any artists from your home country or town ?

If you are into Rap-Trap music listen to Sfera Ebbasta or Laioung, the Italian trap scene is very forward with times and I know many foreigners who listen to this music even if it is in Italian. Or if you are more into pop and make-you-feel-happy-music listen to Occidentali’s karma.

Do you have a specific songwriting method ?

Just think what I want to communicate, really. I try to make people think and not only to enjoy the actual music.

What’s your opinion on the internet in the new music business ?

We all know its pros and cons, but sometimes. The main con is that it;s that is too democratic, too easy to speak and give wrong ideas. Very useful too spread love, but too easy to spread hate too…

What makes your style and music different ?

The deepness and the strive to express messages which are controversial in today’s music where only ‘fake’ lyrics dominate. Especially when these ‘fake’ lyrics are made for somebody else to sing with.
